“You killed him, and you almost killed Lindy.”
“NO! I… didn’t… Ricky… I didn’t.”
“No… you didn’t pull the trigger… but you told Lindy’s father where to find her. Don’t try to lie about it. We know you did.” Ricky’s voice was low and monotone. He stared at Carrie and held her attention.
“I… didn’t… I didn’t mean for any of that to happen. I didn’t expect him to go shoot her…” Carrie’s hands were shaking and sweat was forming on her brow and upper lip. Ricky was frightening her.
“Oh… he didn’t expect to shoot her either. The bullet was meant for me. Lindy… Lindy shoved me out of the way… and the bullet hit her. She almost died.” He stared at Carrie, hoping to get some look of remorse from her, but he saw nothing in her face.
“I… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean…”

Ricky cut her words off. “I wanted that baby… you know? It hurts… It hurts so bad. The pain in my chest…” Ricky brought his hand up and tapped himself on the chest. “I can’t cry! I want to… but I can’t. If I could cry, this ache in my chest might go away. Lindy… Lindy cries. She cries a lot. I stay strong for her. Carrie… tell me why. Just tell me why. Why would you do something so… underhanded and cruel? You’re an accessory… an accessory to murder. Lindy’s dad… he’s going to implicate you…”
“NO! I… I’m not responsible…”
